False Prophets

“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45, ESV

Did you know that there is a lesson to be learned in everything? I heard a gentleman talking and he said that someone called him a false prophet. He said that he started asking himself this question: “What makes a false prophet a false prophet?” Which lead me to question…what makes a false prophet?
Jesus, addressing the crowds, actually spoke of false prophets and their greatest distinction. We think what makes a false prophet is his or her teaching, doctrine, behavior or even followers. While all of those things can be likely indications, Jesus gives us the ultimate indicator of a false prophet in Luke 6:45: the heart.

A quick cross-reference to Matthew’s version tells us this in Matthew 7:16: “You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?” (ESV). The heart heavily determines whether our actions become that of a God-honouring, Christ-following disciple or an extremely passionate but sincerely wrong false prophet.

That’s why the heart matters to God because it can very much affect everything we are and do. Proverbs 4:23 tells us this: “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life” (ESV). Matters of the heart are serious matters to God and should be serious to us as well.

Today, however, we live in a culture that does not take the heart seriously. The default is always to look at the surface—the image, the reputation, the face value—of things and people, judging their sincerity based on how they manifest on the outside. Anyone can deceive with the appearance, but the
heart motive can never point to a lie.

That’s why God instructed Samuel—and consequently all of us today, too—to judge according to the heart and not the outward appearance in choosing the anointed leader of a country (1 Samuel 16:7). That’s why David, after falling into sin, asked God to create in him first a clean heart.

God takes heart matters seriously because they act like rudders that may be small and seemingly insignificant but steer a whole ship into a course.

Consequently, God asks us to take the heart seriously—to guard our own hearts and to be vigilant of the heart motives of others.

Gaining Momentum

Before we learn more about how to gain momentum, it’s essential to understand what it truly means. Momentum, in the context of personal development and goal achievement, is the force that propels you
forward and keeps you moving toward your goals.

The consistent progress and positive energy build upon each other, creating a powerful momentum that becomes difficult to stop. It is that feeling of being in the zone, and you do what you need to do with

Think of momentum as a wave. When you’re riding the wave of momentum, you experience a sense of flow and ease in your actions. Tasks that once felt daunting become more manageable, and
obstacles seem surmountable.

Momentum pushes you beyond your comfort zone, enabling you to reach new heights and accomplish more than you ever thought possible.

Unlike sporadic bursts of motivation, momentum is a sustained force that carries you through challenges and setbacks.

It keeps you focused, driven, and committed to your goals, even when faced with obstacles or distractions. When you have momentum on your side, you become an unstoppable force, making progress with a sense of purpose and determination.

Momentum is not limited to a specific area of life. It permeates various aspects, such as your career, relationships, personal growth, and overall well-being. It fuels your motivation, enhances your productivity, and enables you to make significant strides toward your aspirations.

Understanding the power of momentum sets the foundation for creating a life of continuous progress and fulfillment.

Prayer Violence

On Saturday May 14, 2022: A senseless shooting in a supermarket in Buffalo. On Tuesday May 24, 2022, another outbreak of senseless violence in Texas. Adding to the list of outrageous violence in our nation. And it’s barely even summer.

It would be tempting to become numb, or hopeless, or resigned to these killings.

However, we pray regularly the Lord’s Prayer: “Lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from evil.”

We urgently need this prayer—to be free from the temptation to be numb or hopeless or resigned in response to the vicious violence we are encountering in our world. And, we clearly need to be delivered from the evil behind such violence.

If nothing else, we can commit this line to memory and let that guide us: “Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil.” We can discipline ourselves to turn to this prayer again and again and again.

How can we not give in to the temptation to be numb? hopeless? reactionary?

There’s another line in the Lord’s Prayer that offers guidance. Speaking of God, we pray: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

What a radical vision—that earth should look like heaven! That’s what we are committing to as people of faith: to bring God’s kingdom, here on earth.

Jesus talked a lot about what the kingdom of God looked like. He used images such as mustard seeds, yeast, a great feast. And finally he made it quite clear: The kingdom of God is within you.

When we live, aware that the Presence of God is within us, we then have the power and humility to not be tempted by evil. When we live, aware that the Presence of God dwells in us, and in all of us, we will heal ourselves and our nation and our world. There’s work to be done. Let’s get started by worshipping together on Sundays, and serving others with love throughout the week.

Our world needs us to live our faith, and the need is urgent. I’m grateful to be serving with you and confident that the Presence of God abides with us and within us all. We would love to see you in person as we stand united, with our masks in unity for our nation.

Hey guys! I’m excited to share something with you that was so amazing. It’s so funny how God will speak to you in the smallest still voice. I remember when I called a 21 day fast for our staff as we do every start of the new year. We could have fruits, vegetables and baked fish or chicken. Anything fried was OUT of the question. We all started out strong and was ready to go. As we approached our final week, everyone began discussing what they couldn’t wait to eat after the fast was finished. Well at the end of the 21 days, we could hardly avoid counting down the hours. The main thing that I couldn’t WAIT to eat was some fried rice from my favorite Chinese restaurant and an egg roll. Boy just the thought of it made me excited. The final day of the fast left me almost smelling the fried rice although it was merely in my mind. Now, everyone else came to work on Monday with their most desired meals and foods. Not me! My Chinese restaurant didn’t open until 4:00 P.M. so I continued as much as I could as if I were still on the fast so that I could chow down and abolish that egg roll and fried rice.

Four O’clock finally came. I didn’t want to run into the crowd, so I purposely waited an extra hour before leaving working to go and order. I placed my order, got my food and quickly drove home. Yes, I admit, I was speeding to eat what I couldn’t wait to eat for 21 days. The thing that I short of dreamt of eating and savoring its’ flavor. I could smell the aroma from the front seat although the bag was in the back seat. I quickly pulled into my garage. I threw the car in park and rushed into the house. I washed my hands, got a plate and grabbed some water. I sat down, took a deep breath and opened the bag. It’s funny how when you haven’t had fried food in a long time, 21 days in this case, you can smell the grease…LOL. I put the rice on the plate, put my sweet and sour sauce on it and started with the egg roll. It was absolutely delish! But remember, I REALLY wanted that fried rice. I took the first bite of that rice and waited for the fireworks. NOTHING!!!! I even closed my eyes with the next bite hoping that it would enhance the flavor. NOTHING!!!!!  I looked down at my plate and was like” hmmmm”. I said God, this is not as good as I remember. So, I ate another fork full and it was scratching my throat as I swallowed it which quickly started becoming irritating. So I thought, let me slow down. Maybe I’m too anxious. I put a little more on my plate and put the sweet and sour sauce on again and dug in. NOTHING!!! I sat there as discouragement began to rise up within me and I quickly said, thank you Lord that it’s not good like I thought it would have been. If it had been as good as I thought, I would have OVER indulged…OK, I would have eaten the whole pan. I said God I truly thank you.

As I put the top back on the fried rice, I heard the Lord say in a small still voice, “isn’t it funny that what you THOUGHT you HAD to have didn’t satisfy.” Immediately, I began reflecting and praising God. Guys, I don’t know about you, but in my lifetime, there were SOOOOO Many things that I just HAD to have (in my mind). However, after God “didn’t give IT or THEM to me” I then felt as though I “missed” something. But God quickly taught me that if He said, “not right now”, it was for a reason. It means that He has something SOOOO much better and bigger than you know. We MUST take God at His Word! He says in Ephesians that He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly ABOVE (or MORE than) ALL that we ask or think. In the Message Bible, it says more than we could imagine, guess or request in your WILDEST dreams.  Man, that means even your UNSPOKEN desires, He is able to do above and beyond. Let me tell you, me and the Lord was having a Holy Ghost time over some fried rice that was what I THOUGHT I wanted and didn’t satisfy. He began to remind me of ALL the times that I didn’t get what I thought would satisfy OR what I did actually get and how I was like…”is that it??????” LOL!!!! Guys we will only find satisfaction when we look to the Lord. He knows what we need and when we need it. His timing is ALWAYS perfect.

So, I encourage you today as the Father encouraged me that day. Take joy in the Lord. Knowing that what He gives you will always satisfy (James 1:17). As long as you keep Him first, you can rest assured that your heart will always be pleased and satisfied (Psalms 37:4). Because the Father only gives good gifts, we know that it will ALWAYS be BETTER than what we would choose. With that in mind, wait on the Lord and I guarantee that what God gives you won’t leave you unsatisfied!

The Launching Pad

Hey guys! I was sitting at my desk today reflecting on a conversation that I was having with a friend about her birthday. She was really nonchalant when I inquired on what she was going to do. She said nothing, it’s just another day. I screamed NO!!!! Birthdays are MAJOR! She didn’t seem to think so. Guys, in my holy ghost vision, your birthday is the day that God said “OK LaQuetta, (you insert your name), you’re ready to be launched to pursue your assignment.  Your birthday is the day that you were launched from the spirit realm (eternity) into the natural realm (time), to accomplish God’s divine plan and purpose for your life. I look at your day of birth as your launching pad. The day God predestined for you to pursue your mission in life.

I was curious as to exactly what a launching pad was and found out some very interesting information. A launching pad is an above-ground platform from which a missile is vertically launched to its’ assignment.  A missile is a self-propelled precision-guided system. It has four system components: targeting or missile guidance, flight system, engine, and warhead. Targeting (missile guidance) is important because it improves the proper missile accuracy by improving its “Single Shot Kill Probability” (SSKP), which is part of combat survivability…I need you to come up a little higher and see this concept in the spirit.  So, the word missile comes from the Latin verb mittere, meaning “to send”…(Y’all with me????–“SEND”). God makes sure that we are targeted (or “SENT”)to the correct parents, and situations. Even when in our mind it’s not the “correct” situation, family or parents, we have combat survivability! WE ARE EQUIPPED for the assignment.  The flight system and engine of the missile act to make sure that the inner chambers are operating properly. Pretty much how the Holy Spirit makes sure that our inner chambers are operating properly (if we’re listening and obeying…LOL). Then there’s the warhead, which refers to the explosive or toxic material that is delivered by the missile when there is impact! Yeaaassss!!!! We are some powerful and anointed vessels!

Our Heavenly Father Is sooo strategic.  He has planned everything accordingly. So, I submit to you, please, don’t think of your birthday or date of birth, as just another day! This was the predestined and ordained day which God desired to launch you from eternity into time. It was the day which He selected for you to initiate your assignment. You must SEEK God and pursue Him for His purpose for your life (Ephesians 1:9) on the journey to your divine destiny.
